Annuities
Annuity
A contract that converts a sum of money into a stream of income payments.
Annuities accumulate funds (the accumulation phase) and then pay out (the annuitization phase). Types include fixed, variable, and indexed annuities, and immediate vs. deferred. They are commonly used for retirement income and carry surrender charges during early years.
