Deductible
The amount an insured pays out of pocket before the insurer begins paying.
Deductibles reset each policy period. After the deductible is met, the insurer pays its share (often subject to coinsurance) up to the out-of-pocket maximum. High-deductible health plans pair with Health Savings Accounts (HSAs).
