Waiver of Premium

A rider that pays the policy's premiums if the insured becomes totally disabled.

After a waiting period (often six months) of qualifying total disability, the insurer waives premiums while keeping the policy fully in force. Coverage and cash value continue to build as if premiums were being paid.
