Cash Value
The savings component of a permanent life policy that the owner can access.
Cash value accumulates on a tax-deferred basis in permanent policies. The owner can borrow against it, withdraw from it, or surrender the policy for its cash surrender value. Outstanding loans reduce the death benefit.
