Regulation
Guaranty Association
A state body that protects policyholders if an insurer becomes insolvent, up to statutory limits.
Every state has life and health guaranty associations funded by assessments on licensed insurers. If a member insurer fails, the association covers claims up to state limits. Producers are generally prohibited from using guaranty association coverage as a sales inducement.
