High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
A health plan with a higher deductible and lower premium that qualifies the insured to fund an HSA.
HDHPs trade a higher annual deductible for a lower premium. Meeting the IRS minimum-deductible and maximum-out-of-pocket thresholds is what makes a plan HSA-eligible.
